I'd go with the Crate.

Both of them are going to sound absolutely horrendous, but Crate's stuff seems to last a little longer than Marshall's lower end equipment.

I own a lower end crate .5 stack, it sounds like butt at loud volumes using either one of my heads. When I play with my neck pickup for the thicker tone it goes "whooommppfff".

I don't know anything about that marshall model but I love the tone of my 1960A using the Ampeg Reverb Rocket head I have.

Tripps, MG's sound like a very loud dick in a very cavernous ass, in like, the bad way. Yucky.

Word, although I cannot even comprehend how a cavernous dick ass could sound bad, I would say most amp combos (head/cab) for that price are gonna sound like doo-doo.

On cabinet suggestions, I would play through them before I bought anything to see what you like, it is the only way.

Like I said though, I have no experience with these particular models so my opinion is pointless :)

Almost.. Doesn't always work out with the hookers.
I tip my hat to the creation; and its rewarding disposition. Formed by something; lacking nothing here.

Tits true.

advice from me...

...save your money and buy something that is worth it. in the long run you always start buying piece of shit equipment and later on you'd go " ah damn it !, if i had waited i little longer i coulda got this instead"

sorry , but i have fallen in love with anything "PEAVEY" creates. or at least what i've tried besides my set up. the 5150 and 6506 are amazing, but at this point i wouldn't trade my JSX for anything (well a 6505+ maybe)

now if you really are going for either of those halfstacks....... i'd say CRATE, because our other guitarist used it for over a year in MIJ and it sounded ok.

to be honest, i was very impressed with what this things http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=480946 bring to the table, the tone is pretty good and solid, the only problem i see is that is not loud enough, but that could depent on the cabinet you get, i dunno. really if i was in your position, i would buy this and find a used cabinet in town.

this just in, late breaking news reports state that the correct cabinet to buy would be the one that sounds the best. if you buy one without hearing it first then you deserve to eat a mile of my shit before licking my ass

Marshall MG's aren't too bad actually.

Plus when you friends ask you what kind of amp it is and you say marshall they will be impressed, until they see that it is an MG, then they laugh.

BUT HEY! They are good little cheap amps
